Photo House ~ Moths

Index Page

There are many species of moth found in the UK, of many different sizes and colours and these pages can only illustrate a few.

Moths are initially divided into two groups Micro moths which tend to be the smaller moths and Macro moths which are generally larger, but not in every case. These groups are then sub divided into families.

Many of the photos shown have been taken during the day and show the moth or larva as found. The majority of these moths are relatively common and ones most likely to be encountered whilst out walking in Hertfordshire or Middlesex, rather than those attracted to light and recorded by that method.

Please submit all moth records for Hertfordshire or Middlesex to Colin Plant.
