The Riodinidae family
(Metalmarks)

All the pictures of British 'Duke of Burgundy' shown on the Sightings page

The Duke of Burgundy is the only European member of the Riodinidae family but is often referred to as a Fritillary due in part to its colouration. The species was last recorded in Hertfordshire in 1998, but there are several colonies in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire on the Chiltern Hills.
