White-letter Hairstreak - the national situation

Two important books were originally published - The Millennium Atlas of Butterflies in Britain & Ireland, covering the recording period of 1995 to 1999 and including historic records was published in 2001 - and in 2006, The State of Butterflies in Britain and Ireland, covering the period 2000-2004.

In 2010 Butterfly Conservation published an Atlas of Butterflies in Britain and Ireland which covered the period 2005-2009. Distribution maps were published in 2015 to cover the period 2010-2014.

The White-letter Hairstreak maps still shows many of our records and those of other recorders encouraged by our work.

The maps do not reproduce well on a webpage at low resolution unless you zoom in but can be viewed and expanded side by side in pdf format (1995-2009 maps only at present).
