Event: Butterfly Walk (organised by Church Farm who make a charge of £3 per child and £5 per adult)

Event: White Admiral and other local wildlife with Ruislip & District Natural History Society

Event: For summer butterflies including White-letter Hairstreak (joint with Cambs & Essex BC)
Site: Hadleigh Castle Country Park, Benfleet Downs, Essex

Time & Meeting place: 11pm meeting at the end of Saint Mary's Road by the gate leading down the steps to the downs. The walk itself is expected to take no longer than 90 minutes.

Event: Moth and Bat Evening (with London Wildlife Trust)

Event: Butterfly Walk for White Admiral, Silver-washed Fritillary and possibly Purple Emperor (organised by the HMWT so a donation will be requested)
Site: Balls Wood Nature Reserve, Hertford Heath

Time & Meeting place: 10.30am by the small green on the corner of The Roundings and Hertford Road, Hertford Heath next to the College Arms. Walk to last approx 2 hours.
Public Transport: Nearest station is Hertford East (National Express from London Liverpool Street, alternatively Hertford North (First Capital Connect from Kings Cross) then walk (2 miles from east 3 miles from North) or taxi (available at both stations)
Information: To see summer butterflies and other insects, White Admiral, Silver-washed Fritillary and many more, and if lucky Purple Emperor. Can be muddy and rutted so come prepared for soft underfoot conditions.

Event: Butterfly Walk (with Countryside Management Service)
Site: Wormley Wood

Public Transport: Nearest station is Bayford (First Capital Connect from Kings Cross)
Information: A walk through Wormley Wood with branch expert Steve Kiln to look for White Admiral and other butterflies along the woodland rides. Find out about the habitat management that goes on in these woodland areas to benefit butterflies and other wildlife. Some sections of the walk are quite steep and can be quite muddy. Please bring money if you wish to stop for refreshments at the pub afterwards.

Event: Butterfly Meeting for Purple Emperor and White Admiral
Site: Broxbourne Wood Nature Reserve, Herts

Information: This event will be run on a casual basis focused on the sallows on the main ride during the morning followed by an afternoon visit to a territorial area. Optional all day event ~ bring picnic lunch if staying all day and binoculars recommended

Event: Butterfly Walk for White Admiral and Silver-washed Fritillary
Site: Bricket Wood, Herts

Time & Meeting place: 10am in the car park at St Stephen's Parish Centre, Station Road, Bricket Wood. Morning walk to finish approx 12.30 pm
Directions and Public Transport: From the roundabout at junction 6 on the M1, take the slip road signed M1 south. Take the left turn halfway along this road (Mount Pleasant Lane), do not join the motorway. After a few twists & turns after about a mile you pass under a railway bridge. Continue along the road which bends sharply to the left. Pass Bricket Wood Station and the parish centre car park is on your right just after the junction with Drop Lane. Transport Nearest station is Bricket Wood Station (London Midland - Watford Jnct to St. Albans Abbey Station). Turn left out of the station and the parish centre is about 100 yards on your right, just after the junction with Drop Lane
Information: Information Optional extra - We will also be looking to repeat the sightings of Purple Emperor made in 2010 from 12.30 - 3 pm. Bring packed lunch if you wish to stay for the afternoon and binoculars

Event: A walk to see summer butterflies (with the Woodland Trust)

Information: A leisurely walk through newly planted areas of the forest to see a vivid display of summer butterflies. Target species include Skippers, Marbled White, Blues and Browns. Handy tips will be provided to help you learn how to identify individual butterfly species.

Information: Visit the site proposed for the construction of the world's largest indoor butterfly attraction. Explore the spectacular outdoor gardens, which at this time of year will be rich with butterflies. See amazing numbers of Common Blues in the meadows. Visit the new hatching area and the tropical butterfly house. Lunch available to purchase from the café. Please note that normal entrance fees will apply

Directions and Public Transport: Nearest station is Harpenden (First Capital Connect from London St. Pancras) - approx 3 miles
From St Albans take the B651 north towards Wheathampstead. Pass through Sandridge Village and you will reach the common half a mile further on. At the cross roads in the centre of the common, turn left into Ferrers Lane. The car park is 500 yards along on the left.
